Dave's Oria trip

Post  Dave689 on Sat Oct 20, 2012 3:37 pm

Had a job to find any worthwhile pics but here are a few for review.

I like the tree and its shadow cast on the ground, shame about the wall.

Dave,

Nice shots from our Oria field trip. The first one I like in particular due to the lovely ripples from the spouts, and the rich colour of the leaves in the water. Because of that, I feel the top half becomes a little bit weak and pale.

I've tried (see below) another crop of this shot, concentrating on the lower half, where all the action (and saturation) is. It also benefits, IMHO, from the strong diagonal becoming more apparent.

Funnily enough, I think your last shot too has a lot going for it in the lower half.
Cropping it down to the wall on the right, gives it a moody feel with an interesting foreground.
Only my opinion though...

Good stuff!

Hola Howard

Thanks for your input, I can see now the benefit of your cropping of the fuente spouts. The image I put on the forum had been cropped, but I only thought to remove unwanted areas. Perhaps the subject of cropping would be good for one of the club's monthly meetings, it should be for me at least. I don't know what anybody else thinks to this.

Regards Dave

I think Dave's suggestion is a good one. Perhaps, to expand it slightly, we could all bring along one photo and get general feedback from others as to how it could be improved, whether cropping, levelling, sharpening etc?

Richard.

Dave/Richard,

Sounds like a good idea. I was wanting people to bring along some shots for general discussion anyway, so will post a reminder nearer the next meeting.
