May club meeting...

An enjoyable club meeting this afternoon, made better by an early beer in the courtyard in lovely sunshine!

There was a definite monochrome theme to the meeting. Various methods of converting colour images to monochrome in Paintshop Pro was discussed... Greyscale, Desaturation and the more customisable Channel Mixer method. It was also decided to make this month's assignment 'Monochrome'. So we'll be looking at some thought going into photos processed as monochrome images. Any subject matter...

Club member Rob Palmer gave an excellent presentation 'People, places & things' showcasing his excellent monochrome photographic skills, each image complete with amusing anecdote... Really enjoyed it! It certainly got the creative monochrome juices flowing for our monthly assignment!

This month's field trip will be to Nijar on the 21st, more details to follow nearer the time.

Next club meeting will be on June 4th, which promises to be quite special... Tom Donoghue, a young Irish Astrophotographer has agreed to come along to our meeting to display his awesome astronomical images of galaxies, nebulae & deep space, and give a presentation telling us how he achieves such amazing photos and the impressive equipment he uses. To this end, we will be making the June meeting an 'Open' meeting, inviting any partners, friends and neighbours to come along. I'll also be inviting Vera photo club members along. Hopefully everyone will enjoy this unique opportunity to meet Tom and learn more about his fantastic work.

Thanks Val, much appreciated. Sorry, I don't have any prints here at the moment but will be bringing some across in the future. We go back to the UK at the end of June but are coming here again at the beginning of October, so maybe I can bring some along in November?
