*** NOTE - Summer Field Trips ***

Folks,

After a bit of consideration, I have decided to cancel club field trips during the summer months. This is due mainly to the times we normally meet being at the hottest times of the day, making walking around with a camera, quite uncomfortable and usually too bright to produce photos of any merit. Normally at this time of year the only useful times of day for good light are early morning or in the evening, and due to family and/or visitors committment, this is often difficult to arrange.

So, we'll defer field trips until September, but continue to hold our monthly club meetings at the Hostal Meson Arboleas.

I hope this is acceptable to all club members, and you understand my thinking in taking this action. I'm sure we'll find plenty of other opportunities and locations to take your photographs, and bring them along to club meetings for us all to see!

Yes, so no June field trip next Tuesday as previously planned.

Sorry if this upsets anyone, but it seems like a sensible decision... to me anyway. (I don't want to deal with group heatstroke!) Of course, if anyone wants to continue the field trips, by all means arrange this on the forum.

Could I suggest a solution to the problem of summer field trips? 

This would be the "non-photographic field trip".  We would all assemble at a suitable watering hole in the agreed location and under the shade of leafy trees sit around and discuss the photos we would have taken were it not so hot.  We could then return to our homes lubricated by several libations secure in the knowledge that we had exercised our creative thought processes.  Such a field trip would save the members having to carry heavy cameras and then sit in front of hot computers to do their post processing and may lead to some spirited discussions at the critique sessions during the monthy meetings.

Joking apart I fully agree with your decision.
